Midcentury Kitchen
Lake Forest Park, WA
Project Description
In this project, our commitment to preserving the mid-century charm while infusing modern elements has resulted in a residence that is not only visually stunning but also tailored to the specific needs and lifestyle of a young family. This project is a celebration of the timeless mid-century architecture, seamlessly blending functionality with a renewed aesthetic to create a space that resonates with contemporary living.
Our design journey began with a meticulous focus on the planning the space that flowed better— opening up certain areas, repurposing others and reconfiguring the bathrooms. Recognizing the need for functionality while preserving the mid-century features, we undertook a thoughtful redesign. Bringing minimal aesthetic, combined with modern fixtures highlighted the mid-century ceilings, skylights and wood paneling.
Understanding the importance of natural light in the Pacific Northwest, our design philosophy revolved around maximizing light penetration. The introduction of oak flooring not only brought a touch of modernity but also served to brighten the interiors. New windows strategically placed to capture the outdoor vistas now invite the beauty of the surroundings indoors, creating an atmosphere of openness and connectivity with nature.
Furniture, furnishings and art work were kept eclectic, mixing mid century styles with contemporary pieces—marrying the various styles and infusing it with the personalities of it’s inhabitants.
